Light Horse Weekend Racing Recap, April 12/13, 2025: A Win, Two Big PRs, International Flair

Light Horse athletes were flying this weekend (figuratively and literally)—from Valley Forge and Richmond to Rotterdam and Jersey City. Here's a quick look at some standout performances:

Colin McCauley Wins Revolution Run 5 Miler

Colin McCauley opened his 2025 season with a decisive win at the Revolution Run 5 Miler in Valley Forge, PA. Racing without a taper or recent speedwork, he hung with the front pack through the early miles before surging on a hill just past the halfway point. He pulled away cleanly and never looked back, finishing in 25:09 to take the overall victory!

Tyler Smith PRs at Monument Ave 10K

Tyler Smith turned in a strong performance at the Monument Avenue 10K in Richmond, VA, running a personal best of 35:44! After going out aggressively through the first 5K, he held on and came away with his first official PR of the year. Out of over 18,000 runners, he placed 59th overall—an impressive finish to kick off the spring.

Carolyn Yang and Bryan Yu Go Big in the Marathon

Carolyn Yang ran 3:15 at the Rotterdam Marathon in the Netherlands, delivering a steady and well-executed effort on one of Europe’s fastest courses. Meanwhile, Bryan Yu had a huge breakthrough at the Jersey City Marathon, running 2:48 and chopping 24 minutes off his previous best.

Next Up: Boston

Light Horse athletes are headed to the Boston Marathon next week. Stay tuned for updates as the spring season continues to build momentum!
